Closer to Home

We are out of ICU, and feel "at home" back on the oncology floor. We are mixing the pain meds into chocolate milk but she is actually comfortable as long as she can lay still.
We are still waiting for a dirty diaper but she is passing gas so that is a step in the right direction. She ate part of a hot dog, a few bites of banana and some watermelon at lunch so maybe those will get something moving down there.
Now we await further instructions from both the surgeons and the oncologists.
All good news so far.

YAH !!! Sooooooo glad Manda is out of ICU and back to some sort of normal. Hoping she continues to improve each day. The worst is behind now .... looking forward to the day when she walks out of her last chemo treatment and all of this is history. You continue to be in our prayers :-)

The tumor is gone! I know that has to be a relief to you! Congrats on "graduating" out of the ICU! Manda has already proven she's a fighter and here's to her winning this fight as well.

This is excellent news!!!! Chocolate milk with meds is a fantastic idea, and it is wonderful to know the teamwork behind the idea.

One thought - is she getting colace or something like it too? Morphine and other pain meds can really slow down the digestive tract. Sometimes it can be painful to get things going (so to speak), and a stool softener can really help. Miralax is another miracle med in that fashion. Not that I'd know from personal experience (ok, I totally know from personal experience). One doctor insisted I take Miralax after some surgeries. Like it wasn't an option not to. I still kind of adore her....

Yay Manda! Yay for chocolate milk meds!
